Position Summary
The Development Manager position will provide leadership, planning, organization, and implementation of a comprehensive organizational fundraising program in collaboration with team members in leadership, communications, events, and fiscal management. In addition to NCECA’s existing staff and volunteer board members, they will work closely with members who are ceramic artists, collectors, and donors.
The ideal candidate will have the professional skills, administrative strengths, and personal qualities to thrive in a creative environment. They must have experience researching and writing grant proposals and managing campaigns for various donor capacities. Detailed knowledge of gift planning vehicles, experience in identifying, cultivating, and securing near-term and deferred gifts, and demonstrated success in closing major gifts are highly desirable.
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of development experience are required, preferably in the arts and nonprofit fields. The candidate should also be familiar with CRM nonprofit AMS software, donor databases, and other fundraising technology, which they will use in their daily job duties.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the Executive Director, Managing Director of Marketing and Communications, Manager of Finance and Accounting, Board President, and Development Committee to create an annual development plan and budget incorporating cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
Develop and direct strategies that range from major gifts, membership, sponsorships, and the annual campaign.
Grow the membership and Collectors Circle donor program by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new prospects.
Develop and sustain a stewardship program that acknowledges sustaining donors.
Work with communications and conference staff to manage donor solicitation and engagement, online campaigns, mailings, and special fundraising initiatives.
Meet with prospective donors and volunteers in the community to establish effective communication.
Develop, coordinate, and implement special events related to development and fundraising.
Travel to participate in the planning and implementation of the annual conference and meet with major donors.
Research and execute grant applications with the Executive Director, Manager of Finance and Accounting, and Board Members as appropriate, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
Build the planned giving program for deferred gifts, charitable remainder trusts, and similar bequests.
Provide support for special events, including the annual NCECA Cup Exhibition & Sale and other special events.
Support the Board Development Committee Chair and provide necessary resources to members.
Oversee the fundraising module within the Association Membership System to update individual records and track campaigns and donor histories.
Collaborate on the creation of communications to support fundraising activities.

Position Summary
The Social Media Curator will support NCECA’s mission to promote and advance the ceramic arts through thoughtful and engaging social media content. Working closely with NCECA staff, artists, and community partners, the Curator will source, organize, and share meaningful digital content that connects the ceramics community, highlights member contributions, and broadens the reach of NCECA’s programs, exhibitions, and annual conference.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about digital storytelling who can authentically represent NCECA’s values of inclusion, education, and creative artistic excellence online. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and driven by measuring impact in the digital realm, using tracking tools and analytics to inform strategy and support NCECA’s mission-driven and fundraising initiatives. NCECA maintains a strong and growing presence on social networks, with 70,000 followers on Instagram and an annual reach of 1.5 million. We strive to refine messaging and target specific demographics across platforms, with a particular focus on Facebook and a forthcoming networking community on the Higher Logic platform.
Responsibilities
Content Sourcing & Community Highlights
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with NCECA’s mission, strategic plan, and integrated marketing communications goals.
Curate and share engaging, mission-aligned content that reflects the diversity of the ceramics field, including artist features, process videos, exhibitions, educational resources, and member highlights.
Source high-quality visual and written content from NCECA members, partners, and the broader ceramics community; monitor user-generated content for potential resharing with proper credit and permissions.
Collaborate with board and staff to implement strategic social media plans, stay informed on key trends, and ensure consistent branding and messaging across platforms.
Foster a welcoming and inclusive digital environment that extends beyond in-person events and supports fundraising, community storytelling, and member engagement through initiatives like Instagram Live and other digital programs.
Content Creation and Engagement
Design and produce visual content, videos, and captions for NCECA’s communication platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, BlueSky, YouTube, and emerging media such as podcast-related content. A high volume of graphics is produced throughout the year.
Develop engaging captions that reflect NCECA’s tone—inclusive, educational, and artist-centered—while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across platforms.
Collaborate with staff, board members, and departmental colleagues to create and share relevant, timely content highlighting ceramic art, education, and NCECA programming.
Support strategic initiatives and campaigns—including Calls for Entry, Conference Registration, Exhibitions, and Fellowship Announcements—through coordinated social media efforts.
Maintain and regularly update a social media calendar to ensure strategic timing and content diversity, reviewed weekly in one-on-one meetings with the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications.
Social Networking Platform Management
Publish curated content regularly on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and BlueSky.
Respond to comments and DMs professionally and warmly, helping build an inclusive and responsive online presence.
Engage with posts from artists, educators, and organizations aligned with NCECA’s mission.
Expanding NCECA’s digital presence beyond social media by supporting the development and management of an NCECA-run community networking platform (e.g., Higher Logic Community).
Support audience development and foster engagement within the community networking platform and social media communities. Monitor the above platforms for participant alignment with NCECA Community Guidelines, issue warnings as needed, report concerns to the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications, and the Executive Director.
Data Tracking, Analysis, and Performance Tracking
Continuously track, measure, and analyze performance data, providing monthly and annual post-conference reports that highlight key findings and actionable strategies to improve engagement, traffic, followers, and comment-driven interactions.
Create and manage metric spreadsheets to monitor NCECA’s quarterly growth across social media channels.
Collaborate with the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications to establish annual benchmarks as part of the goal-setting process for membership growth.
Monitor analytics and performance data for curated posts.
Provide monthly or quarterly insights to help evolve NCECA’s digital engagement strategy and present to the Managing Director of Marketing and Communications.
Qualifications & Skills
Excellent communication and writing skills, with an understanding of formatting arts content for online audiences.
Experience curating or managing social media for a nonprofit, arts organization, or creative brand.
Proficiency with social media tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, etc.) and design platforms, Adobe Express, Canva, and Project Management Software Asana.
Familiarity with ceramics and a passion for contemporary and/or historical clay arts.
Comfortable working remotely and independently to set and respond to time-sensitive content opportunities.
Ability to manage multiple platforms and balance daily tasks with long-term strategy.
Commitment to digital storytelling that reflects the diverse experiences and perspectives of different groups and individuals, to foster spaces where everyone feels valued and respected.
Minimum Requirements
Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, with 2–4 years in social media content branding—ideally within arts, education, cultural, nonprofit, or creative sectors.
Demonstrate strong writing and visual storytelling skills with impeccable judgment and the ability to create compelling multimedia content, including video, audio, infographics, and GIFs.
Exhibit advanced graphic design skills and a strong understanding of current trends, tools, and best practices in social media marketing, audience engagement, and brand development.
Passion for data analysis tools such as Instagram and Facebook Insights, Hootsuite analytics, and other platforms to evaluate performance and drive strategy with actionable insights.
Maintain a deep awareness of diverse cultural identities and intersectionalities, with a demonstrated ability to communicate inclusively through visual and written content.
Bring a passion for the arts and a collaborative mindset, fostering positive relationships with colleagues, staff, and diverse communities while using social media as a platform for community-building and brand amplification.
Preferred Requirements
4–5 years of experience in social media content branding, ideally within an arts, educational, cultural, or nonprofit organization.
Proven ability to develop, manage, and optimize paid advertising campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
Demonstrated success in using social media to drive audience growth and increase membership, supported by strong metrics and performance reporting.
Proficient with social media management and advertising tools, including Meta Business Suite, Instagram Shopping, and integrated ad platforms.
Strong understanding of audience engagement strategies through both organic and paid content, with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.

Resource Hall Manager

Position Summary
The Resource Hall Manager coordinates, manages, and oversees the nonprofit and commercial vendor (Resource Hall) area established in the convention center at NCECA’s annual conference. Each year, the conference relocates to a different city in the continental United States and takes place over a 3.5-day (Wednesday-Saturday) period in March. Move-in begins on the Monday before the event. This role may be performed remotely; however, travel and onsite work during the entire conference week are required.
Responsibilities
Prepare a detailed Resource Hall floor plan. This includes collaborating with NCECA staff and the drayage/decorator team to develop the initial Resource Hall floor plan for fire marshal approval and ensure its accurate upload into the new AMS.
Coordinate with the drayage and decorator team (currently Fern Expo/Nth Degree Company) to gather essential logistical details, including exhibitor service needs and pricing.
Configure and build exhibit listings within NCECA’s backend AMS before the conference season
Develop and maintain the Resource Hall Packet and/or instructional videos to guide exhibitors through NCECA’s Association Management System (AMS) during the reservation and registration phases.
Maintain ongoing coordination with FERN on Resource Hall logistics and overall conference planning throughout the season.
Manage the Resource Hall reservations and payments.
Collaborate with the Communications Manager for inclusion of Resource Hall information on the NCECA website and in print publications.
Deliver prompt and professional customer service to non-profit and commercial exhibitors, responding to pre-conference planning, registration, and onsite inquiries via email and phone.
Coordinate closely with the Registration Manager to ensure efficient and seamless onsite registration and check-in during the conference.
Foster strong relationships by engaging with exhibitors throughout the conference, while collaborating with the Conference Manager to promptly address and resolve any concerns or requests.
Document and track all issues for post-conference review and sharing with the NCECA Executive Director.
Collaborate with team members to develop and conduct a post-conference satisfaction survey for exhibitors, and participate in an internal review with staff and volunteers to evaluate event outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
