An exciting international collaborative symposium will take place in Jingdezhen, China, the world’s porcelain capitol, in October of 2008. SHARED JOURNEYS: Chinese/American Ceramic Art and Education will bring together an intimate group of ceramic artists and historians, from both the U.S. and China. The symposium will feature a dynamic mix of lectures and panel presentations, demonstrations, excursions to local historic Chinese clay centers, as well as gallery exhibitions. NCECA is pleased to announce this new initiative in the area of international programming for the upcoming year.

SHARED JOURNEYS will be limited to 60 participants from the U.S. and a similar number from China, with special prices for students and NCECA members.
A stimulating offering of events includes:
- panel discussions
- lectures
- demonstrations -throwing and trimming
- gallery exhibitions
- field trips to local historic clay sites
- museum visits (Shanghai and Jingdezhen)
- All sessions will be presented in English and Mandarin, using translators.
