GREEN TASK FORCE

Recognizing that the ceramic arts flow from the creative fusion of earth, air, water and fire, NCECA respects these natural elements and seeks to protect them, practicing environmental responsibility in its business practices. NCECA also fosters the most environmentally responsible practices among its members.

At the 2008 Pittsburgh conference, NCECA made a commitment to “go green.” The first step was to form a Green Task Force (GTF) comprising Board, staff and NCECA members. We are now carefully examining how we can look to the future in ways that support our efforts to become environmentally friendly, both in our home office and at our conference. Additionally, we are seeking input for ways that we as ceramists can address this important issue within our own individual studios.

We can’t do this alone. We need your help, and are therefore looking for suggestions from you, our members. We are planning to promote green ideas through our website, publications and in future conference programming. To this end, you will be hearing from us very soon about an addition to our website that will help us all remain informed and connected to this important issue and NCECA’s efforts to be green. Stay tuned!

NCECA is vital to the continuation of ceramics arts. Thank you for all of the effort, time and organization of this.
