Chanda Glendinning

Chanda Glendinning comes from a family of artists and educators, and intends to pursue a career in teaching at the collegiate level once she completes her Masters of Fine Arts in ceramics at Kansas State University in May of 2011. She has served as the president of the Potter’s Guild and the Graduate Students of the Visual Arts at Kansas State and is the student representative to the Kansas Artist Craftsmen Association.  In 2008 she graduated summa cum laude from Buffalo State College with a BFA in ceramics, where she was a member of the Dean’s Student Council and served as president of the Coalition of Ceramic Designers.

Chanda’s teaching experience includes Instructor of Record for Ceramics I, 3D Design, 2D Design and Art for Elementary Education. She has taught workshops on slab building and sculpting with thrown and altered porcelain components. She has organized several group shows of graduate student work, both on and off campus, and participates in regional and national ceramics exhibitions.

In the past Chanda has volunteered at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts and Touchstone Center for Crafts.   She has been a student volunteer at past NCECA Conferences, and led NCECA Connections sessions at the last two conferences.

Chanda’s ceramic work is evolving to reflect her thoughts on community and personal interactions. She works in porcelain, and is utilizing hand building, throwing and slip casting methods to create abstract sculptural works with multiple components.
