Throwing, assembling and decorating the forms and techniques that Steven Hill is well known for. Steven will address ways to achieve the kind of richness and surface variation in electric kilns that potters have come to associate with reduction firing.

The Slip Cast Object Revisited – A Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Slip Cast Ceramic Work

Exhibition dates: June 5th-July 25, 2015
Gallery hours Thursday, Friday, Saturday 12pm to 5pm and by appointment

Awards and other presentations will be made during the evening, with food, wine and entertainment provided by Baba and Pop’s Kitchen, Balistreri Winery, and local musician Casey Cormier. On Saturday afternoon June 6th, Plinth Gallery will host a presentation by artist Peter Saenger, (www.saengerporcelain.com) who will discuss his slipcasting techniques. The event is free and open to the public. Plinth Gallery is located in the River North Art District (www.rivernorthart.com)

LEAP 2016 – Lydon Emerging Artists Program
Call for Entries: LEAP is open to exceptionally talented graduate students and/or emerging artists who are beginning to receive recognition for their work, but are not currently represented by well-established galleries.  Artists must work in craft media: ceramics, wood, metal/jewelry, glass, found materials, mixed media, fiber or a combination of these materials. The yearlong retail program features, markets and sells the work of one winner, who also receives a $1000 prize, and 6 finalists. Brigitte Martin, who is the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Crafthaus, will be the guest juror for LEAP 2016. Submit application by 9/30/2015, entry form at http://www.contemporarycraft.org/SCC/LEAP_award.html.
