We can hardly believe that the conference is less than 3 weeks away…time flies! In preparation for the conference many of us have been making and firing a new batch of cups. Many of these cups will be donated to NCECA's Annual Cup Sale, one of our favorite programs to participate in. We're also excited to see the great press coverage of more than 100 exhibitions some of which are already open! The 2013 NCECA Biennial and the NCECA National Juried Student Exhibition opened to rave reviews. Also currently open are a number of exhibitions at Lone Star College-North Harris including Altered Earth, Endless Variations II: A Shino Extravaganza, and Outdoor Sculpture Invitational. Call and Response is open at the Jung Center, Mesmerize at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Art and San Angelo Ceramics at the museum of Southeast Texas.

Many of us have been looking through the Exhibitions guide and planning our excursions through Houston to see the amazing exhibitions offered this year. In the spirit of our conference theme Earth/Energy, we invite you to take advantage of our exhibition tours and evening reception shuttles provided by Lew White Tours. It's an easy and environmentally friendly way to get around Houston!
The endless and imaginative variation of cups displayed at this benefit create important developmental opportunities for artists through scholarships, residencies and programs including the Regina Brown Undergraduate Fellowship. At the 2012 NCECA Cup Sale in Seattle, over 979 cups enable NCECA to raise $23,499. Your cup can continue this great tradition of generosity in Houston in 2013.
Getting involved is simple. Bring a cup, or several, as a donation to the Cup Sale. Cups are received from 9am-5pm Wednesday and Thursday in room 350 D-F of the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Donated cups are immediately displayed for all to see. On Friday morning, the exhibit becomes a sale, and all funds raised go directly to support various NCECA initiatives! You can purchase cups on a first-come-first-served basis, although each person is limited to three purchases. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.
Make plans to arrive early and stay late in Houston! There are a number of exhibitions and workshops that will be open or taking place. Check out http://www.nceca.net/static/conference_prepostevents.php for the most recent listing of pre and post conference workshops.
