NCECA 2009 EMERGING ARTISTS NOMINATIONS -

You may refer to the information below for planning for 2009 Nominations.

Due to the construction of the NEW NCECA website, Online submissions will be available ONLY September 1- 18, 2008.  Please take the time until then to prepare your nomination.  An announcement will be sent as soon as the ONLINE Submittal form is available. Completed applications must be submitted Online by September 18, 2008 (midnight MDT.) Late applications will not be reviewed. Notification of the judges’ decision will be sent to all nominees by November 1, 2008.

Criteria/Procedures
The NCECA Emerging Artist program is intended to give early career artists, who show exceptional promise, the opportunity to present their work to an international audience at the NCECA Annual Conference. Emerging Artist nominations are welcomed from professionals in the field of ceramics, or artists may self nominate with the support of two professionals.

Residents of the U.S. and international NCECA members are eligible for nomination. Nominees may not be students and may not have received major national attention for their work, (e.g. a one-person exhibition at a nationally prominent gallery or museum). Submissions will be judged by Reena Kashyap, NCECA Director at Large, and two other NCECA Board Members


NCECA 2009 EMERGING ARTISTS NOMINATIONS
Those selected as Emerging Artists must attend the 2009 NCECA conference in Phoenix, AZ, where they will deliver a 10-minute digital image presentation of their work. Emerging Artists’ presentations will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009.

Emerging Artists will receive the standard presenter’s honorarium and are required to submit a written summary of their presentation for the NCECA Annual Conference for publication in the NCECA Journal. This summary must be accompanied by five 300 dpi images appropriate for print publication.  Submission of this information is necessary to be included in the NCECA Program Guide and to receive the honorarium.

Applications must be submitted completely electronically.   The application consists of:

  • Nomination form (Online Submittal form)
  • Two-page resume
  • Artist’s Statement, 250 word maximum.
  • Exactly 10 images...guidelines to be posted soon.
  • Two 1-page letters of recommendation from professionals in the field of ceramics.  Letters of Recommendation should be emailed from the recommender’s computer to kate@nceca.net.  Letters of recommendation are to be received by September 18, 2008.

A contract with specific presentation instructions regarding number of electronic images permitted and other pertinent information will be sent to the selected artists soon after jurying is completed. Selected artists’ images and application materials will be retained by NCECA and will be held in the NCECA archives. Images may be used to advertise the Emerging Artists program and may be posted on the NCECA website. Emerging artists will be ineligible for consideration as conference demonstrators for three years following their Emerging Artist presentation.
