| Jingdezhen Preview
Jingdezhen, the porcelain capitol of China, is a fascinating city with a long history of porcelain manufacturing. Below are images and videos of some of the things you can expect to see and food to eat during the symposium in Jingdezhen. There's a Shanghai preview here, too.

The Ancient Kiln Museum offers a glimpse into traditional ways of making porcelain pottery. Pottery is trimmed when bone dry, decorated with cobalt oxide on greenware, and glazed green. Check out these videos.

Just a half block from the Tao Yuan Hotel (the symposium hotel) is a small street, nicknamed 'Food Alley', where there are many tiny restaurants and food stalls offering traditional Chinese items. One of the favorites is the noodle shop. Here's a video of the chef making two kinds of noodles: pulled and shaved. Watch carefully for the last pull of the noodles - amazing to see as it happens very quickly. And they're delicious!

Sometimes you can find a food stall where they make a large crepe-like bread that's cooked on a round griddle, then rolled like a burrito. These are great for breakfast. Watch him make one here:
